251 - Decopatch & derby

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to try three new crafts. One I've wanted to try for a while is decoupage. I've seen a few kits in Hobbycraft and on Amazon and things, and while I liked them, they were all for making quite a number of items.

As I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it or not, I decided to buy this small Decopatch kit from Amazon. It comes with a small pig, a brush, glue, instructions and 6 different kinds of pink paper to make your pig sexy. I'm off work on Thursday and Friday, so this will definitely be getting tried some time over those days or the weekend!

Also, as my first bout with FVRG is coming up, I purchased a pair of purple (our colour) and white socks so we can all match! Only £4! Amazing!

Anyway, I'm just in from practise so I'm off to bed with Harry Potter. Night!

250 - Derby headshots

As my first bout draws ever closer (more scared that words can describe), I'm getting to take part in all the exciting things that bouts entail. And one I got to experience last week was the derby headshot.

All my lovely Fierce Valley girls already have headshots from our last closed bout (which you can check out here), so I was the only person who still needed to get mine done.

After a lot of posing like a loon, the lovely Chaos Faerie edited and uploaded a bunch of potential headshots for me. So I thought I would be a bit vain for once, and post them! Obviously, I only got to pick one for the actual program, but I'll let you see which one I chose when I actually get my hands on the program.

249 - Dolls house

One of my New Year's Resolutions this year is to finish decorating my doll's house. I've had my doll's house for years, since I was in high school I think, but I couldn't tell you the last time I did anything to it. I decided I wanted to decorate it all myself, and as one stage, I put down all of the flooring, apart from two rooms and did the garden up.

When we moved house, the front of the fence on my house got broken by the movers, and I decided I needed to give it the love it was missing. I actually have all the wallpaper and flooring paper I need to finish it, I just need to buy a few more lights and get it rigged for lighting, and then I can put all the furniture back in and see what I'm missing.

Anyway, tonight I did some dolls house sorting, so I thought I would share a few pictures!

One floor and the walls need to be decorated. Also one floor in the basement needs done.
My broken fence :(

I get a discount leaflet from the Dolls House Emporium every month, so I'm going to place an order in the February one and hopefully get at least some of the rest of the lights I need, plus some other bits and bobs that are cheap too. I'm very excited!

248 - New projects

Today I did something I don't do very often. I found a project in a book I wanted to make, and then I wrote down everything I needed for it (specific thread colours and everything) and went to Hobbycraft and bought it!

Usually I try and get by on what I've already got, and usually just pick colours that are close to the ones in the pattern. But I decided for this one, I was going to do everything right.

I bought some evenweave, which I've never worked on before, and a huge selection of DMC thread, all of which are lovely colours! The only one I couldn't get was pale peach, so I picked a colour which I thought was close, and when I checked it later, it turned out I'd picked up light peach. Quite close me thinks!

I also bought some nice felt for a project/present/tutorial I'm thinking of trying!

Unfortunately that's all I can't tell you about these projects right now! But they will be awesome!

247 - Friday Favs Top 10

So a lot of the blog's a follow do a Friday Favourite post, where they post the best things they've found over the past week. I don't have any regular features on my blog (apart from New Year's Resolutions updates) so I thought it might be fun to start one!

I'm a Pinterest addict, so all my photos will be from there (I'll make sure to do only do ones from this week though for my first one!). It'll also encourage me to pin more. Win win!

246 - Koala card

So my first subscription copy of Cross Stitcher arrived at the weekend, and I got a lovely koala card kit free with it. I've not done any cross stitching this year so far, so I got straight on it.

Koala card

It was quite easy and the googly eyes are awesome. I think I was missing one strand of the main grey colour though, as I ran out a little before the end and had to use a grey/blue of my own that was close (you can see his bum and leg are a slightly different colour!). Still cute though. I'm probably going to use it for Donald's sister's birthday, as it's the next one on my list.

245 - Bake once a month - January.

Okay, so one of my New Year's Resolutions was to bake at least once a month, and this month, I decided to make apple pie. I found this recipe and decided to give it a go, pastry and all. I've heard pastry can be quite difficult, but I thought I might as well try and make it all, or it's not really baking.

I have to say rolling out the pasty was the hardest part, and I had to patch it quite a lot, but I wanted to use my lovely apple tart dish I got out the charity shops a few weeks ago.

Donald seems to be enjoy it!

Very happy with it, and it tastes well good. It is huge though, so I think it's going to take us a while to finish it!

244 - The Bruise Brothers

Okay, so one of my New Year's resolutions for this year is to play in a public bout. And I'm a very lucky derby girl, because it's actually happening! I could not be more excited.

On the 18th of February, the Parma Violents will be taking on Dundee's Silvery Tayzers! Eek! If you're on Facebook, event details can be found here. If you're in the area, I urge you all to come!

243 - The Versatile Blogger Award

Today I was very happy to see I have received the Versatile Blogger Award from the lovely Little MissL over at Confusions, Pondering & Ramblings Through the Eyes & Clothes of a 20-Something. Getting blogger awards is always fun, because it gives me a feeling of pride that people actually read and enjoy me blog! Woo!

So firstly, 7 facts about me!

  1. Asda is one of my favourite clothes shops! Everything is so cheap and they have so many nice things! I buy most of my clothes from there.
  2. A lot of my favourite foods involved a lot of mayonnaise e.g. potato salad, tuna mayo, egg mayo. Nom!
  3. I already own my wedding dress.
  4. I probably have more pairs of Converse than most people have shoes.
  5. I adore books and I very rarely give them away to the charity shops unless I actually hated the book. Anything I remotely liked, gets kept. Hence having so many books!
  6. I can't drink orange juice very much anymore as it gives me heartburn. This makes me very sad.
  7. I feel naked without a hairband.
And now to pass it on to some of my favourite blogs!
Happy Monday everyone!

242 - More derby birthday cards

So these are all derby birthday cards I did for ARRG at the end of last year, but I haven't posted about till now because I wasn't sure whether people had had them or not. Well now I know they have, so I can finally post about them! Woo!

The next birthday isn't till February, so I've got a bit of a break, but it's fun trying to think of something different to do for everyone.

241 - Wolf's boner

Sometimes I see things on Tumblr, which I just know I have to embroider. A lot of the time, they just get saved on my Pinterest for future reference, but when I found this picture, I knew I had to stitch it straight away!

My name on my blog is Little Red Emo Hood, so I do quite enjoy anything that has Little Red Riding Hood on it. I've been working on this for a few days now, so check it out!

Little Red Riding Hood

I have to say, I never thought I would be french knotting some nipples, but hey, it's something I can tell the grand kids about!

240 - Derby photos

So last week I tried out for my roller derby bouting team, the Parma Violents. We're playing a bout against Dundee in February. Exciting times. So one of the lovely roller girls, Evil Moogle, who wasn't skating, took some awesome pictures of us skating! So check out some action shots of me! I'm the one in the pink t-shirt and the blue leggings.

239 - New craft books!

So I'm still ill! Bah! Now I have a lovely cold too. Meh. I am crafting something lovely, but I don't want to show you it till it's finished! But I can assure you, it's amazing!

Anyway, I ordered some awesome craft books through The Book People and my mother, and I thought I would show them off!

Lovely quilting book! I want to make a quilt this year, so I thought this would help. It's got some lovely things in it. Well excited!

This amazing toy making kit! It comes with a lovely book with instructions on how to sew in general, how to make 5 different soft toys and some lovely clothes for them. You get everything needed to make the cat free! So cute!

Mix and match section to match clothes up.

I also got a knitting kit which was the same, but you get everything to make this cute bunny and cape!

These kits are aimed at children, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to make them just as well! Fingers crossed.

238 - Tapestry

So, I've never done any tapestry before, but I've finally finished my first kit! Woo! Luckily I'd bought a frame for an embroidery project I wanted to start this week, so I was able to pop it up on display right away!

Romantic Winter in Scotland

Unfortunately I started this well before the New Year, so I can't count it towards any of my New Year's Resolutions. Sad times.

I'm very proud of my romantic winter in Scotland kit, and I have another one which I bought from a charity shop on the same day, so I'll need to get on making that too.

Tapestry is fun, but the wool tastes bad when you're trying to thread the needle. Blarg.

237 - Latch hooking kit.

So I've not blogged in nearly a week. I wish I had some amazing reason, but really it was just because I've been ill since Monday. So I've been sleeping. A lot.

Anyway, the other day I finished my lady bird latch hooking kit. Woo!

Ladybird latch hooking kit

I'm very happy with how it turned it, though it is quit small to be considered a rug! I mean, look at it with my feet on it.

Never mind, it's still going to be nice down the side of my bed, and I'm looking forward to being able to complete a bigger kit at some point in the future.

The instructions on how to finish the kit weren't the best, as it told me to tuck in the corners and then sew. But when I tried this, it seemed to get call caught up in the wool, so I just decided to Heat N Bond some fabric on the back, which I thought would be better for keeping it in better condition if it's going to live it's tiny life as a rug.
